Wedding in Mexico City
My last several posts have been about the government occupation in my hometown of St. Paul and the attendant atrocities that are being committed by our own government “agents.” There are a number of courageous actions being taken, both big and small, and it sure iis easy to get discouraged.
But love does conquer all. We’re in Mexico City for our daughter’s wedding. We couldn’t be happier with the man she’s marrying and the family she’s marrying into. The two of them are great both individually and collectively and love gives me hope.
I also happen to love Mexico and specifically, Mexico City. It is our second time visiting and the people are friendly and forgiving of my Duolingo informed Spanish (I’m not very good). The food is spectacular. The sites and history are inspiring.
And the country is safe. There is no occupying force. The law enforcement people we see are a friendly presence and not terrorizing the citizens. They are visible and helpful even to me when I try to ask directions..
When we return it will be with a renewed sense of purpose and our constitutional observations, school recess duty, and volunteer work will show that maybe, just maybe the love of two people can inspire us and that love can conquer all.
