Two, Maybe Three W.C.s
No. Not Water Closet. Is it just me, or do other people find similarities between Winston Churchill and W.C. Fields? Probably just me. I think they look similar and there are a lot of great anecdotes about both. My favorite anecdote about W.C. Fields, the famous vaudeville performer who often acted like a drunkard in his act, once said, “I always keep a supply of stimulant [alcohol] handy in case I see a snake. Which I also keep handy.”
Winston Churchill, on the other hand, may be the hero of WWII in which he inspired England to defend, and ultimately prevail, against Nazi Germany. One of his most famous speeches had the basic point of never giving up.
However, W.C. Fields had a different take: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, and then quit. No sense in being a fool about it.” As is so often the case, balance and perspective taking are the key skills in the Age of the Heart.
