Our Better Nature Will Prevail

I believe we’re in the Age of the Heart (moving from the Information Age where the most successful work with their brain, to the Age of the Heart where the most successful work with their heart) and one would expect to see compassion, love, and respect be the prevailing characteristics. Therefore, I’m so very surprised at the cruelty (pushing a pregnant woman to the ground and dragging her away by masked agents, in the Twin Cities) telling us not to believe our own eyes, (January 6th was a day “full of love”) general incompetence (indiscriminately killing Venezuelans) blatant and abhorrent transactionalism (pardoning a Hounduran drug lord while systematically killing those suspected of trafficking cocaine into Europe) and such a petty and vindictiveness that truly shocks the conscience.

How could the most powerful man in the world possibly have petty grudges and grievances that he needs to act upon?

As a kid I grew up watching All in the Family and then in my early adult years I saw an amazing run of movies like Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, Misery, The Princess Bride, and an all-time great Spinal Tap. These were all of different genres and styles and great in their own right. But what was said about the director, Rob Reiner, was the common theme that, “Our better nature will always prevail.”

And that’s why I’m so sad (past being angry about vile and stupid comments from a sad, narcissistic, petty, and pathetic man) about his gloating of Rob Reiner’s death. I just wish that our leader would have a better nature that could prevail and that makes me seriously doubt his ability to be human.
