The Age of the Heart
Throughout history, there have been various ages like Bronze and Iron. Each transition brings confusion and unrest. People often question the future, the effects of changes on their lives, and their role in the new world. Some even resist these changes, as seen with the Luddites.
And that's where we are. I believe that we are on the cusp of a new age. So much division, acrimony, even hatred that we’re in a state of disturbance and we can’t seem to find any equilibrium.
But here’s another way to think about it.
America had the Age of Agriculture where people largely used the land for planting, grazing, or extraction. That gave way to the age of Industry where people mostly worked with their hands. In factories thinking wasn’t that important, it was about manipulating the machines. As technology advanced, the age of people working in factories gave way to people working in offices where they had to use their brains. That age of information where people worked mostly with their brains is now giving way to the age where the most successful will be those who effectively work with their heart.
We’ve moved from hands to brains to heart.
