Forgiveness and Don Henley
I’ve been thinking a lot about forgiveness. About asking for forgiveness. About being forgiven. About forgiving. And how the Age of the Heart plays into this. This current era of anger and tumultuousness along with uncertainty and chaos are things we expect when we move from one age (Information) to our next age (Heart). In the last age, we worked mostly with our brain and now in this new age the most successful will work with their heart. And that brings me to Don Henley.
“I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter, but my will gets weak and my thoughts seem to scatter, but I think it’s about forgiveness. Forgiveness, even if you don’t love me anymore.” The Heart of the Matter by Don Henley
Forgiveness doesn’t mean absolution. Rather, it is more of an act for the forgive-er. It allows them to move on. It’s about turning the page. And in his song, Henley recognizes that anger and grief will end up destroying you and that the first person to benefit from the act of forgiveness is the one doing the forgiving.
I need to think more about this as I think about wrongs (mine and others) and what to do next.
